The MOI portal and Sahel app display your residency status using standard terms. Here is what each status means and what action to take.

Your residency is valid and active. Your expiry date is shown — monitor it and begin renewal at least one month before it expires.

⏳ Under Renewal
Your employer has submitted a renewal application. The residency is being processed by MOI. Do not travel while this status is showing.

⚠️ Block 11 — Admin Block
Your residency has been administratively blocked — usually due to an outstanding fine, employer issue, or legal matter.

Kuwait Overstay Fines 2026
If your iqama shows Block 12 or has expired, overstay fines are accruing daily. Here is the current fine structure for 2026.

You cannot travel, renew your Civil ID, or transfer employers while on Block 12. The Kuwait overstay fine in 2026 is KD 10 per day starting from the first day after your iqama expires. The fine accrues daily. After 6 months of overstay, escalated penalties and deportation proceedings may begin, and a re-entry ban of several years may be imposed. Pay as soon as possible to limit the total fine. The payment is made at the MOI Deportation Department in Shuwaikh.
Can I travel if my iqama is under renewal?▾
Generally, you should not travel while your iqama renewal is under process. Your residency stamp in your passport may show as expired even if the renewal has been submitted. Some employers obtain a temporary exit and re-entry visa to allow travel during renewal — ask your employer or PRO. Never attempt to travel on an expired residency stamp without confirming with MOI first.
