Frequently Asked Questions

How do I check my Kuwait iqama status online?
Go to eres.moi.gov.kw, click Individual eServices, and enter your 12-digit Civil ID number. Your residency status, expiry date and any outstanding fines are displayed instantly. No login is required. You can also check via the Sahel app under My Data, or by sending an SMS with your Civil ID number to 1889988.
What is Block 11 on Kuwait iqama?
Block 11 is an administrative block placed on your residency by the MOI. It is usually triggered by an outstanding traffic fine, a legal case, an employer complaint, or a government system issue. Block 11 prevents you from traveling, renewing your Civil ID, and accessing most government services. Contact your employer or a PRO immediately and visit the MOI to identify and resolve the cause.
What is Block 12 on Kuwait iqama?
Block 12 means your Kuwait residency (iqama) has expired and you are currently overstaying. Daily fines of KD 10 per day are accruing from the day after expiry. You cannot travel, renew your Civil ID, or transfer employers while on Block 12. Visit the MOI Deportation Department in Shuwaikh immediately with your passport and all documents to pay the fine and regularize your status.
How much is the Kuwait overstay fine in 2026?
The Kuwait overstay fine in 2026 is KD 10 per day starting from the first day after your iqama expires. The fine accrues daily. After 6 months of overstay, escalated penalties and deportation proceedings may begin, and a re-entry ban of several years may be imposed. Pay as soon as possible to limit the total fine. The payment is made at the MOI Deportation Department in Shuwaikh.
Can I travel if my iqama is under renewal?
Generally, you should not travel while your iqama renewal is under process. Your residency stamp in your passport may show as expired even if the renewal has been submitted. Some employers obtain a temporary exit and re-entry visa to allow travel during renewal — ask your employer or PRO. Never attempt to travel on an expired residency stamp without confirming with MOI first.
How early can I renew my Kuwait iqama?
Iqama renewal can usually be submitted 1 to 3 months before the expiry date. It is recommended to start the process at least 1 month early. If your renewal requires a Wafid medical exam (GAMCA medical), book it 2–3 months in advance as appointments can be delayed. See the full Iqama Renewal Guide for step-by-step instructions.
What is the MOI eServices website for Kuwait iqama check?
The official MOI eServices portal for Kuwait iqama and residency checks is eres.moi.gov.kw. You can also access MOI services at eservices.moi.gov.kw. Both are official government websites. Avoid unofficial third-party sites that claim to check iqama status — always use the official MOI portal or the Sahel app.
My iqama status shows fine — how do I pay?
Traffic and residency fines shown on the MOI portal can be paid online at eservices.moi.gov.kw using KNET, credit card, or via the Sahel app under Payments. For overstay fines (Block 12), payment must be made in person at the MOI Deportation Department in Shuwaikh — bring your passport, Civil ID and cash or KNET card. Confirm the exact fine amount with MOI before visiting.
