๐Ÿ”ฎ GCC Unified Tourist Visa โ€” What to Expect

The GCC Unified Tourist Visa is a planned single-permit that will allow tourists to visit all six GCC countries โ€” Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman โ€” on one visa. This is similar to the Schengen visa in Europe.

As of 2026, the system is in its final rollout phase. Qatar has confirmed full technical readiness. Saudi Arabia's expanded eVisa system is seen as the backbone. For now, individual country visas are still required. Once launched, a tourist arriving in Dubai will be able to visit Kuwait, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman on the same permit.

๐Ÿ’ก Until the unified visa launches, the most cost-effective approach for expats visiting multiple GCC countries is to use the Saudi eVisa (covers Saudi + overland entry to Bahrain via King Fahd Causeway), then separate visas or on-arrival for other GCC states.

FAQ

โ“ Frequently Asked Questions

Can expats in Kuwait travel to Saudi Arabia?โ–ผ
Yes. Expats holding a valid Kuwait Civil ID with at least 3 months remaining can apply for a Saudi eVisa at ksavisa.sa. The visa is a 12-month multiple-entry visa allowing stays up to 90 days per visit. Fee is SAR 300 (approximately KD 30). Processing can be as fast as 30 minutes.
Do GCC residents get a visa on arrival in UAE?โ–ผ
Yes. Expats holding a valid GCC residency permit (including Kuwait Civil ID) are typically granted a 30-day visa on arrival at UAE airports โ€” Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah. No pre-application is needed. Show your passport and valid Kuwait Civil ID at immigration. The visa is extendable inside the UAE.
What is the GCC Unified Tourist Visa and is it available yet?โ–ผ
The GCC Unified Tourist Visa would allow visitors to travel across all 6 GCC countries (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman) on a single visa โ€” similar to Europe's Schengen visa. As of May 2026, it is in the final rollout phase with Qatar confirming technical readiness. It is NOT yet fully operational โ€” individual country visas are still required. Watch for announcements from your national airlines and Gulf governments.
Does a Kuwait Civil ID help Indian/Filipino/Pakistani expats travel in the region?โ–ผ
Yes โ€” significantly. Since August 2025, holding any valid GCC residency permit (including Kuwait Civil ID) for at least 6 months unlocks visa-on-arrival or eVisa access to most GCC countries, regardless of your passport nationality. This means Indian, Filipino, Pakistani, Egyptian, and other expats in Kuwait can now visit Saudi Arabia (eVisa), UAE (VoA), Qatar (VoA/Hayya), Bahrain (eVisa), and Oman (eVisa) far more easily than with their passport alone.
How strong is the Kuwaiti passport for travel?โ–ผ
As of 2026, the Kuwaiti passport ranks 47th on the Henley Passport Index with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 96 countries. Within the MENA region, Kuwaiti citizens enjoy visa-free access to all GCC states, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, Morocco, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Iran among others. The passport is strongest for regional and some Asian travel.
Is it safe to travel to Lebanon/Iraq/Sudan/Yemen right now?โ–ผ
Always check the Kuwait Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) travel advisories at mofa.gov.kw before booking any travel. Sudan and Yemen are active conflict zones and travel is strongly discouraged. Libya also carries high-risk advisories. Lebanon and Iraq have varying conditions by area โ€” Kurdistan (Erbil) in Iraq is generally considered safer for tourism. Never rely solely on this website for safety decisions.
